Definition: An oil press is a mechanical device that extracts oil from oily plant seeds (such as peanuts, rapeseed, sesame, sunflower, corn germ, coconut, palm kernel, soybean, etc.) through physical pressure or chemical methods. It replaces the inefficient traditional manual oil pressing mode and becomes the core tool for modern edible oil production.

Introduction to the classification of oil presses  

• Screw oil press  

• Utilizing the screw shaft rotating in the press chamber, it generates high temperature and high pressure through mechanical squeezing and friction, so that the oil cell ruptures and the oil is separated from the oil.  

• Wide range of application: it can handle many kinds of oil crops, such as sunflower, soybean, perilla, cottonseed, walnut and so on.

Hydraulic Oil Press

• The working principle is to use the hydraulic system to apply pressure to the oil material and separate the grease from the oil material by static squeezing.

• Suitable for special oilseeds: such as sesame, walnut, almond and other high oil content or hard shell oilseeds.

• High oil output quality: hydraulic press produces more pressure and higher oil purity.

• Lower energy consumption: Compared with screw presses, hydraulic presses consume less energy.

What is the purpose of an oil press

Edible Oil Production

Small and medium-sized workshops/food factories: large-scale production of edible oils (e.g. sesame, sunflower, palm, soybean, olive, etc.), or customized processing of organic oils.

Industrial-grade oil refining: produce high-quality soybean oil, corn germ oil, etc. through pre-pressing + solvent leaching process

Industrial raw material extraction of oil quality: extract specific components (e.g. ricin, tungoleic acid) from oilseeds for use in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, paints, lubricants, etc.

Agricultural resource recycling: feed/fertilizer by-product development

The cake meal after oil extraction is processed and converted into high-protein feed (e.g. soybean meal with 43% protein content) or bio-organic fertilizer.

Energy Substitution: Oil tea husk, cottonseed husk and other oil pressing residues are compressed into biomass pellet fuel to replace coal for industrial boilers.
